Promoted Plymouth make offer to fan who promised to get tattoo of manager’s face
Plymouth Argyle have offered to pay for a fan who promised to get a tattoo of the manager’s face.
An Argyle fan, known simply as PAFCRyan, took to Twitter in February to vent about his side. The Pilgrims had just lost 5-2 to Peterborough United when another user tweeted: “Some of our fans think one result changes the whole outcome of Plymouth’s season. It really doesn’t.”
But Ryan remained a pessimist, playing down any hope of Argyle managing to achieve promotion to the Championship this season.

He replied: “The 0-0 with Fleetwood last week done that, same as last year, drew with them and completely fell apart after, this year we have the added bs of some dead trophy at Wembley, if we get the top 2 I will tattoo Schuey’s [manager Steven Schumacher] face on my chest.”
His side stunningly went on an incredible run over the next two months. And they managed to clinch promotion from League One on Saturday with a 1-0 win over Burton Albion, leaving all Argyle fans with the exception of Ryan delighted.
It didn’t take long for fans on Twitter to find the unfortunate tweet, with one user cheekily replying: “Where you getting the tattoo done lad?”

Another tweeted: “So uhhhh, how big’s the tat gonna be?” while a third added: “Oh man this aged terribly.”
But that wasn’t the end of the red-faced supporter’s punishment, with the official Argyle club Twitter account even chiming in by quote-tweeting the original post: “We’ll pay. Drop us a DM.”
It is unknown whether Steven Schumacher, who took the job in December 2021, is aware of his face being etched on a supporter’s chest. But he will surely be delighted with the club playing Championship football for the first time since 2010.
