Prem fans declare ‘the Barclays is back’ after Newcastle fan’s goal celebration

Football fans have been left revelling in the return of the Premier League after a topless Newcastle United fan was spotted joining in with Harvey Barnes’ celebration.

Newcastle started the season in scintillating fashion as they put a much-fancied Aston Villa side to the sword at St James’ Park – running out 5-1 winners in the evening kick-off on Saturday.

A debut goal was the cherry on top of a magical day for Sandro Tonali, who opened the scoring just six minutes into his Toon career. An Alexander Isak double and fourth from Callum Wilson put the game out of the reach of Villa, who had earlier levelled on 11 minutes through Moussa Diaby on his Villans bow.

But there was still time for a third debut goal of the day as £38million signing from Leicester City Harvey Barnes was introduced with just over 20 minutes left to play.

The English winger caused problems throughout with his pace a huge threat in behind a high Aston Villa backline.

And he was able to gobble up his chance in added time to add Newcastle’s fifth with a clinical finish after being sent through one-on-one with Emiliano Martinez from just inside Villa’s half.

Barnes then wheeled away towards the corner flag and celebrated with his trademark imaginary bow and arrow fired into the crowd.

But eagle-eyed viewers spotted a shirtless, bald Geordie who fired back an imaginary arrow as he got caught up in the celebrations.

His celebration had plenty of fans laughing on Twitter, with one fan saying: “Bald guy returning the imaginary arrow with such style and grace. Barclays is back, baby!”

A second said: “Was highly impressed with that when watching live, looked cool AF when there was a massive risk he wouldn't have done.”

“This is the best thing ever,” a third claimed, whilst a fourth said: “How elegant of a bow shot is that!”

It’s not the first time that Toon celebrations have caught the eye. Ex-Magpie Allan Saint-Maximin gave fans ‘penicopter-gate’  after his winning goal in extra-time against Oxford United in 2020 – which saw one fan whip his penis out and windmill it in the stands.
