Postecoglou breaks silence on Tottenham links but two pundits aren’t buying it
Ange Postecoglou rues missed chances after Celtic lose to Real Madrid
Ange Postecoglou has cooled reports that he is the top contender to become Tottenham Hotspur head coach this summer after Arne Slot rejected the job. But there are doubts over whether he would snub taking the helm at a Premier League club, despite his early success at Celtic.
Postecoglou marked his first season in charge at Celtic Park with a Scottish Premiership and Scottish League Cup double.
Having already secured a second successive double this season, he is one game from guiding the Hoops to the treble.
Links with a switch to the summit of English football are rife on the back of his silverware-clinching habits up north amid Spurs’ ongoing managerial quest.
But Postecoglou insists that his mind is nowhere else but Glasgow while on the verge of history.
He told Sky Sports: “And yet I’m still here! It doesn’t [come onto my radar].
“I think anyone who knows me – and I’ve been asked about this kind of things plenty of times – knows that what’s important for me is the here and now.

“I’ve never planned anything in my football career. My ambition right now is to enjoy tomorrow [against Aberdeen], have a good game and then try and win a cup final and make it a special year.
“It’s not every year you get the opportunity to win a treble, and if anyone thinks I’m thinking about anything other than that, they don’t know me.”
Despite the Aussie boss’ public stance, ex-Hoops star Chris Sutton is convinced that a Premier League job will be on Postecoglou’s agenda.
“I want Ange Postecoglou to stay at Celtic and have a crack at the Champions League next season, and Tottenham Hotspur is clearly a downgrade/smaller club than Celtic,” Sutton tweeted.
“But nobody can deny the fact that Ange will want a crack at the Premier League down south at some stage…”

And Shaka Hislop agreed that Postecoglou would be tempted to walk away from Celtic to take charge in north London.
He said: “[Luis] Enrique and [Julian] Nagelsmann, I’m not sure either of them would go to Spurs. Here’s the issue for Spurs, they are a damaged brand.
“I’m not sure how many are that excited about Spurs and working with Daniel Levy. Postecoglou would happily make that move south, no question.”
Only time will tell whether Postecoglou will take up Tottenham on their interest in his services.
But one thing’s for sure; his sole focus will be guiding Celtic to the treble against Inverness Caledonian Thistle on June 3.
