Police say they have not received any report of Wayne Rooney allegedly being set up in photos that have surfaced online.
The Derby boss appeared in images that have swept social media.
In them, the ex-Manchester United star appears to be asleep while a semi-naked woman poses next to him.
But Greater Manchester Police have confirmed to Daily Star Sport that no report has been received.
They also confirmed there is no investigation going ahead, despite reports that Rooney had reported to police alleging the photos had been taken without his consent.
The photos appear to show England's record scorer on a night out alongside a number of women.
In some he appears to be asleep, but in others he is seen chatting to one in a nightclub.
It has emerged that Snapchat model, Tayler Ryan, and friends Elie Melvin and Brooke Morgan, all 21, are the women involved.
Tayler is an Instagram star with 13,000 followers, and took a photo of herself sitting with Rooney on a couch.
The photos were shared across various social media platforms, including Facebook and Twitter, as well as messaging apps such as Whats App.
The pictures appear to show Rooney surrounded by the women, and in one video, one the women can be seen breaking wind near him.
The pictures are believed to have originated after Derby's pre-season friendly against Barrow.
And the pictures appear to show Rooney at the exclusive Chinawhite nightclub, in Barrow-upon-Furness, before showing him in what appears to have been a hotel.
However, the snaps also appear to show Rooney asleep, sparking reports that Rooney had reported the pics to police, alleging the photos had been taken without his consent.
On Monday morning Rooney was snapped for the first time since the pictures were leaked onto social media.
He was seen clad in his Derby County attire as he led pre-season training for the Rams.
The 35-year-old is seen speaking to assistant manager Liam Rosenior, and first team development coach Justin Walker, as well as leading a passing drill.
Derby are currently in the midst of a transfer embargo and Rooney has expressed concerns Derby may not be able to field a team next season.
