‘A top player doesn’t waste his time on minor competitions’: Paul Pogba’s personal trainer CONFIRMS the midfielder will leave Manchester United this summer, naming PSG and Juventus as the frontrunners for his signature

Paul Pogba’s personal trainer has confirmed the midfielder will leave Manchester United this summer following the expiration of his contract.

The Frenchman, 28, has been heavily linked with an exit, with the likes of Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain on high alert with his big-money deal set to expire in June.

Pogba is set to play a pivotal role for United as manager Ralf Rangnick looks to guide his side to a Champions League spot, but his trainer – referred to as ‘Coach Maddy’ – insists the midfielder is targeting more lucrative accolades.

Speaking of the midfielder’s immediate future, Maddy told Calciomercato: ‘Regarding Pogba, at the end of June he will no longer be a Manchester United player.

‘I think it is right for him to look elsewhere, perhaps Manchester also wants to renew themselves and the most sensible thing is to separate.

‘The time will come to change and try new challenges, new emotions, new environments for both Pogba and Manchester, to try something different and maybe they will both be happy.

‘Right now I think he’s enjoying himself, they have a good team, especially since [Cristiano] Ronaldo decided to return. The problem is that the results don’t come.

Pogba is linked with a return to Juventus, where he made 178 appearances over four years

‘A top player doesn’t waste his time on minor competitions, he wants to be motivated to play for ambitious trophies.’

Sportsmail revealed last month that Pogba is happy to leave his future undecided until the end of the season, with the Frenchman refusing to rule out the possibility that he could stay.

French giants PSG – who will be looking to bolster their squad once more after crashing out of the Champions League earlier this week – are assembling a lucrative homecoming package to sign the midfielder, however.

Also an option, as Maddy confirms, are Juventus, who Pogba made 178 appearances for during a four-year spell between 2012 and 2016, having left United for free as a youngster under Sir Alex Ferguson. A move to Real Madrid is not said to be on the cards, however.

Pogba has also been linked with PSG, but manager Mauricio Pochettino could be heading the other way this summer

‘Yes yes. Paul can return to Juve,’ Maddy said, speaking separately to Il Bianconero. ‘He has good relations with the Bianconeri but he could also be at PSG.

‘I think PSG needs a midfielder like him and he could go and play in France.

‘At Real Madrid I would exclude him because there is no longer [Zinedine] Zidane, he would have gone only in that case. Juve or PSG at the moment, but you never know what can happen, we’ll see.’

Pogba was named in Rangnick’s starting lineup for United’s crunch clash against top-four rivals Tottenham on Saturday evening.
