Paul Pogba has mocked his critics by dancing in the snow on social media.

The France star returned to Juventus in July after leaving Manchester United on a free transfer when his contract expired, but has not played since then after suffering a meniscus knee injury later that month and then a thigh injury in October.

And confused fans questioned why Pogba was taking to the ski slopes despite recovering from those knocks – before the 29-year-old hit back in a short video, insisting the snaps of him enjoying the snow were just poses.

Juventus fans had questioned why he was on the ski slopes while recovering from an injury

A post shared by Paul Labile Pogba (@paulpogba)

The video was posted on Thursday morning to his 56.4million Instagram followers with the caption: ‘Me skiing for those who were wondering,’ with a skiing and cry-laughing emoji. It has already received more than 50,000 likes at the time of writing.

The footage shows Pogba moving into a typical ski position, with legs together and knees bent, pushing his arms backwards to mimic using skis, before jumping forward several times.

He then turns around and faces the camera, smiling, before carrying out several more mock-skiing poses – demonstrating how low-impact his holiday has been – before turning it off.

The midfielder has recently posted several pictures to his account, one in ski goggles and a thick coat in front of a mountain, and another trudging through deep snow with the caption: ‘Patience is not the ability to wait, but the ability to keep a good attitude while waiting’ – perhaps referring to his long-term recovery from injury.

According to Tuttosport, Juventus fans were left ‘agitated’ by the social media posts, especially given the generally active pursuits on mountains, while he is out injured.

They report that fans are annoyed: ‘Partly because in the mountains there is always the risk of getting hurt and there are many fans who would like to see him on the field after months of waiting.’

Earlier this month, the 29-year-old was seen in the crowd at the World Cup final where he was in attendance to support his team-mates in the defeat on penalties by Argentina.

Pogba was also seen at an Adidas World Cup event at The Secret Garden bar in Doha alongside ITV and talkSPORT presenter Laura Woods and worked out with his former United team-mate Rio Ferdinand in their hotel gym.

Pogba ran down his contract with Manchester United after a second spell with the Old Trafford club that promised much but ultimately was disappointing after becoming their £93m record signing in 2016.

He re-joined Juventus on a free transfer but has not played any competitive football yet this season under Massimiliano Allegri.

Pogba tore the meniscus in his knee during a pre-season tour of America and was eventually forced to agree to an operation to repair the injury after alternative therapies failed to help. He then suffered another setback in October, suffering with a thigh muscle issue to further delay his return.

Pogba is now back in Turin with his club team-mates and working to return as soon as possible. Juventus face Cremona on January 4 in their first game back since the World Cup and winter break, but Pogba is not expected to be involved.

The 91-cap international Pogba is set to return to Turin shortly to join up with the Juve squad
