Pochettino jeopardises Liverpool’s Mason Mount plan with Chelsea recommendation
Mauricio Pochettino reportedly believes Mason Mount could have a huge role to play within his Chelsea project – should he remain at the club this summer. The England international attacking midfielder is facing an uncertain future in west London, so much so that he could be sold at the end of the season having failed to agree terms with the Blues over a contract extension.
Chelsea would still like to extend Mount’s stay but it’s understood his current demands are thought to be unrealistic.
Mount has remained quiet on his future but recently appointed a new agent in Neil Fewings from Roof back in March which would suggest he could be gearing up for a potential transfer.
However, The Mail are now reporting that Pochettino would be keen to keep Mount on board at Chelsea if he was to land the job, as he sees him as somebody he can build his team around.
The Argentine is hopeful that Mount could once again become an integral player for the Blues and is seemingly a big admirer of his qualities.

It’s been a challenging season for Mount on a personal level having fallen out of favour under former head coach Graham Potter.
Since then, the 24-year-old’s season has been wrecked by injuries meaning Mount has not even had the chance to shine under caretaker boss Frank Lampard, who has brought the best from him during previous spells coaching Chelsea and Derby County.
Liverpool are also snooping around ahead of the summer transfer window and they are said to view Mount as one of their top midfield targets.
Yet if Pochettino is to land the Chelsea job, it seems he will make a conscious effort to try and keep the player at Stamford Bridge.

Sheikh Jassim may have opened door for Chelsea’s Todd Boehly to land ace[LATEST]
Todd Boehly is said to have met with Mount’s reps in recent weeks and months in an attempt to resolve the situation but so far his efforts have failed to bear fruit.
Other clubs are also believed to be in the race for the England star’s services as he approaches the final 12 months of his current deal.
Despite his quality, Mount’s stock has fallen considerably in recent months having mustered just three Premier League goals and two assists all season.
Last season under Thomas Tuchel, Mount recorded double figures in both departments, netting 11 goals and registering 10 assists.
There is hope the creative midfielder could yet replicate that rich vein of form next season under Pochettino, providing there is a willingness from the player’s entourage to extend his stay with Chelsea.
Mount is a boyhood Chelsea fan having worked his way up through the club’s Cobham academy which is why supporters are so desperate to see a resolution from the Blues.
Crucially, Chelsea need to raise cash this summer through player sales if they wish to continue spending excessively after being added to the Financial Fair Play watchlist.
The Blues have splashed over £600m on new signings since the arrival of Boehly and Behdad Eghbali in 2022.
