Gerard Pique unleashed an X-rated tirade at Antoine Griezmann and told his Barcelona team-mate to ‘f*** off’ as the pair became embroiled in a heated clash during their humiliating Champions League defeat against PSG.

Pitchside microphones picked up the angry exchange between Pique and Griezmann in the first half after PSG had won a corner with the scores still level at 1-1.

The Barcelona defender was furious with his team-mates for failing to control possession as PSG began to dominate proceedings and got into a shouting match with Griezmann after the Frenchman took exception to his outburst.

Pique was furious with his team-mates as PSG started to dominate the game and clashed with Griezmann in the first half after the Frenchman took exception to his outburst

Pique: ‘Keep the ball, fucking hell, for fuck sake, come on! Fucking hell, keep the ball.’

Griezmann: ‘Calm down, stop shouting, don’t shout, for fuck sake!’

Pique: ‘Fucking hell Grizi, fuck me! No! Fuck off, we’re suffering, we’ve been (pinned back) for five minutes.’

Griezmann: ‘Don’t shout at me! I’m suffering as well.’

Pique: ‘Fucking hell, we’re running like crazy’

Griezmann: ‘I am running like crazy, too’

Ter Stegen: ‘Come on, come on, mark your men.’

Pique was heard shouting: ‘Keep the ball, fucking hell, for fuck sake, come on! Fucking hell, keep the ball.’

Griezmann responded: ‘Calm down, stop shouting, don’t shout, for fuck sake!’

Pique then turned on his team-mate and shouted back: ‘Fucking hell Grizi, fuck me! No! Fuck off, we’re suffering, we’ve been (pinned back) for five minutes.’

‘Don’t shout at me! I’m suffering as well,’ Griezmann hit back before goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen tried to diffuse the situation by telling them to ‘mark their men’.

Barcelona’s night would get worse though with PSG running riot in the second half with Kylian Mbappe completing a famous hat-trick at the Nou Camp.

Mbappe had equalised in the first half after Lionel Messi’s penalty gave Barcelona the lead before scoring two after the interval with Moise Kean grabbing the other for PSG.

The defeat leaves Barcelona with a mountain to climb and a huge deficit to overhaul in the second leg in Paris next month, but Ronald Koeman will perhaps be more concerned by the evidence of in-fighting amongst his players on what was another shameful night for the club in Europe.

Griezmann was clearly still caught up in the raw emotion of his bust-up with Pique after the match as he immediately took a flight out of Barcelona after leaving the Nou Camp on Tuesday evening.

The 29-year-old was tracked down by local reporters after being spotted at the private flights terminal at El Prat Airport just two hours after the match had finished.

When asked why he was leaving Barcelona, Griezmann told local media: ‘What does it matter to you?’

Barcelona players have been given two days off after the defeat but Griezmann has come in for criticism having reportedly skipped the local curfew as part of coronavirus measures, which does not allow citizens to move or leave their home after 10 a.m. unless for good reason.

Koeman will undoubtedly be troubled by the fallout of two senior players and now faces a battle to unite the squad ahead of next month’s second leg.

The Barcelona boss however conceded that their prospects of progressing from the tie are now miniscule after admitting that PSG were ‘superior’ in every department and showed they have a ‘more complete team than we do’.

Asked about next month’s trip to PSG in the second leg, Koeman said: ‘We have to play it, but coming back from 4-1 down is very difficult. There are few options.’
