Piers Morgan mocks Manchester United after their defeat to Arsenal
‘That’s what you get!’: Piers Morgan mocks Manchester United after their defeat by Arsenal… claiming they hired an ‘arrogant manager’ that forced Ronaldo out and replaced him with Wout Weghorst, who ‘nobody knows’
- Piers Morgan has mocked Manchester United for signing Wout Weghorst on loan
- Morgan said he had ‘never heard of the forward’ and poked fun at his name
- He said Utd’s loss to Arsenal is ‘what you get’ for pushing Ronaldo out the door
Piers Morgan has taken to social media to criticise Manchester United for hiring an ‘arrogant manager’ that forced Cristiano Ronaldo out the door and poked fun at the club for replacing the 37-year-old with Wout Weghorst.
Weghorst joined the Red Devils on loan from Championship side Burnley earlier this month and featured in United’s 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace and their loss to Arsenal on Sunday afternoon.
Morgan mocked United for signing Weghorst – claiming he had never heard of the 30-year-old striker, who struggled to prove himself in the Premier League during the 2021-2022 season.

Morgan took to Twitter to say: ‘Congrats Manchester United – that’s what happens when you hire an arrogant coach who disrespects the GOAT so badly he leaves – and then replaces him with someone I’ve never heard of who sounds like an Austrian sausage.’
The TV mogul shared two accompanying pictures – one of Ronaldo playing in Manchester United’s home kit earlier this season and one of Weghorst playing in United’s away kit on Sunday.
Morgan’s Tweet came shortly after United’s loss to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The Red Devils initially took the lead thanks to a goal from Marcus Rashford but Bukayo Saka’s equaliser and Eddie Nketiah’s brace proved too much for Erik ten Hag’s side.
As a result, Arsenal won the Premier League fixture 3-2, canceling out both Rashford and Lisandro Martinez’ goals, and moved five points clear at the top of the table.
Morgan said the result was a direct consequence of Manchester United’s actions – claiming Ten Hag’s appointment was a mistakes as it forced Ronaldo out the door.
Ronaldo parted ways with United after his bombshell interview with Morgan and signed for Saudi Arabian side Al Nassr.
Ronaldo’s departure left a hole in United’s frontline – meaning Ten Hag had to sign a new striker to add depth to his squad for the remainder of the season.

Therefore, the Red Devils signed Weghorst on loan until the end of the 2022-2023 season and handed him his debut against Crystal Palace.
However, question marks have been raised about Weghorst – who struggled to prove his worth during the 2021-2022 campaign with Burnley.
Burnley fans were understandably disappointed with Weghorst’s contribution during the 2021-2022 campaign, when he registered just 30 shots on target and missed six big chances.
Additionally, he only managed to find the back of the net three times before being shipped out on loan.
Nevertheless, Weghorst is eager to prove his worth at Manchester United after being given a second chance in the Premier League.
