Piers Morgan ‘knew Arsenal were screwed’ when ‘tiny error’ was spotted

Piers Morgan says he knew Arsenal had no chance against Manchester City after spotting a bit of Pep Guardiola magic on the touchline.

The Gunners were emasculated by a near impervious City side who smashed four past them to wrench control of the title race from their increasingly-slippery grasp.

Kevin De Bruyne opened the scoring after just seven minutes with a sumptuous strike from the edge of the box following a swift breakaway, sparking wild scenes of jubilation around the Etihad … though they didn't last long in the City dugout.

After momentarily pumping his fists at the crowd Guardiola turned towards the pitch and started screaming at Ederson as if the Brazilian had just slapped his nan in the face, presumably after spotting him commit a mild on-field misdemeanour.

It was evidence of the Spaniard's obsessive perfectionism which, according to Morgan, confirmed Arsenal's demise before it had even properly started.

Sharing a clip of Guardiola's post-goal explosion, the Talk TV presenter tweeted: "This was the moment I knew we were screwed last night. Guardiola breaking off celebrating De Bruyne’s brilliant 1st goal to berate Ederson for some tiny error nobody noticed.

John Stones scored City's second after guiding a header in from a De Bruyne free-kick. It was initially flagged offside, but a VAR review contentiously reversed the decision. De Bruyne then made it 3-0 just 10 minutes into the second half, once again finishing off a sweeping counter-attacking move.

Rob Holding mercifully pulled one back for the visitors four minutes from time, slotting the ball home from just inside the area, but City's three-goal cushion was restored in injury time when Erling Haaland netted his 49th of the season.
