Piers Morgan hits out at ‘pathetic’ Arsenal as Gunners ‘choked’ title
Arsenal V Brighton: Pictures
Arsenal supporter Piers Morgan has hit out at his own club for their “pathetic” performance in the 3-0 defeat at home to Brighton on Sunday, handing rivals Manchester City the chance to lift the Premier League title with one more win. The Gunners went down thanks to goals from Julio Encisco, Deniz Undav and Pervis Estupinan in a major blow to their title chances.
The result leaves Mikel Arteta’s outfit four points behind current leaders Manchester City, having also played a game more than Pep Guardiola’s side. The Gunners have just two more league games remaining – away to Nottingham Forest and then home to Wolves – but City need just one win from three to seal the title.
City will get their first opportunity to retain their title next Sunday at home to Chelsea, but if they fail to get the better of Frank Lampard’s Blues then two away trips to Brighton and Brentford await City.
Reacting on Twitter shortly after Arsenal’s full-time confirmation, Morgan wrote: “All over. Totally outplayed by a team that just lost 1-5 to Everton. A horribly lacklustre, passion-devoid, spiritless, pathetic performance that cements an inexplicably dismal run-in to a season which promised so much. Bottom line: we choked. #afc”
