Peter Drury ‘to replace Martin Tyler on Sky Sports’ as Prem fans get their wish

Peter Drury is set to replace Martin Tyler as Sky Sports' main commentator, after Tyler, 77, stepped down from his role on Saturday.
Drury currently commentates for the US-based network NBC Sports, who are owned by the same parent company as Sky. According to the Daily Mail, an announcement is imminent, and Drury will focus on one game each week.
The 55-year-old started off his career with local radio in Leeds, but he is best known for his time at BT Sport in England. And Premier League fans are overjoyed with the news, with many calling for Drury after Tyler's announcement.
"Peter Drury to Sky Sports?!!! Am I dreaming," one fan questioned. And a second added: "Massively deserved for Drury. Should’ve been the main man at Sky years ago!"

"Possibly the best move Sky have made in all their years getting Peter Drury in. Super Sundays should be epic," a third said. And another added: "Peter Drury signing for Sky is the best signing of the season!"
"Sky's viewing figures will see a stark rise. Peter Drury has an excellent voice. For me the best in the football commentary sphere," a fifth predicted. While another tweeted: "Sensational news. Peter is fantastic. Congratulations to him!"

Martin Tyler released a statement on Saturday: "In my humble opinion, the huge corporation Sky is today has stemmed from Sky Sports’ innovative and inspired coverage of the Premier League.
"It has been a privilege to play a small part in the broadcasting history of the greatest league in the world. Along the way, I have worked alongside legions of wonderful professionals in all aspects of the television industry. I thank them all for their support and expertise. It has been an honour to be a member of a very gifted team."
While Sky Sports' Director of Football Gary Hughes said: “Everyone at Sky Sports would like to say a heartfelt thank you to Martin for his unparalleled contribution and dedication to our coverage over the last 30 years.
‘The Voice’ will always be synonymous with the Premier League and Sky Sports. When you think of commentary, you think of Martin Tyler.
