Pepe Reina sent everyone into shockwaves after he was revealed as one of the contestants on the Spanish version of the ‘Masked Singer’ music show.
The former Liverpool goalkeeper was unmasked from his penguin costume on the singing show, which tasks a celebrity panel to guess who is singing underneath the prosthetics.
Reina sang Spanish artist Junco’s popular track ‘Hola, mi amor’ with comedian Jose Mota correctly guessing that the international goalkeeper was underneath the mask, though the other panellists predicted it would be Andres Iniesta.

After he was revealed on the show, Reina said: ‘I just had to do this. Just to see you all speechless, your reaction of “look how he moves” or “look how he walks” … is great.
‘When you said it was Iniesta I was cowering a little bit. I would take a few heads off (to see) Andres do it.’
The 38-year-old then tweeted: ‘Seriously pondering if the next step is Eurovision! It has been a great treat to participate in @MaskSingerAS ! I have had a great time. Greetings from your flamingo penguin.’

Reina’s former Liverpool team-mate Peter Crouch revealed his delight at seeing his close friend take part in the competition, tweeting: ‘Yes Pepe !!’
The pair were team-mates at Anfield for three seasons, winning the 2006 FA Cup and reaching the 2007 Champions League final together.
This is not the first time professional footballer Reina has been caught singing in public. The shot stopper was seen leading the singing on the plane after Spain won the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

Crouch also claimed that the Spaniard was his ‘go to karaoke man’ when the pair played together in Merseyside.
Reina is still playing professionally and is currently at Serie A club Lazio, who recently appointed Maurizio Sarri as their new manager.
The 38-year-old has been at the Italian side since leaving Aston Villa following his loan spell there at the back end of the 2019-20 season.
