Pep Guardiola’s daughters asked Neil Warnock for a photo after Man City drubbing

Pep Guardiola’s daughters once asked Neil Warnock to have their picture taken with him after a match.

At the time, Manchester City had just pummelled Cardiff City 5-0 in South Wales in what was a ruthless display from the Citizens. Not that Warnock was angry at his own players, who were simply outclassed by a mesmerising City side.

The former Sheffield United and Crystal Palace manager described City’s performance at the Cardiff City stadium as “amazing” and was not even angry at his players despite the fact they shipped five goals at home. However, Warnock did get the last laugh, as Guardiola’s daughters approached the 73-year-old as they wanted to have a photo with him.

“I think Pep Guardiola respects me,” Warnock said on Jaack Maate’s Happy Hour. “I think when we played them, I went in his office after.

“I think he was a bit annoyed at the time because his daughters wanted a picture with me, not him.”

Whatever their motivations were, it certainly gave Warnock a smile he may have needed after the drubbing his side were dealt by the Citizens. “His team, at the moment, over the last two years, are the best team I have ever seen in my lifetime,” Warnock added.

“I’ve never seen anything like it. I was at Cardiff City and we played Man City and we were 0-0 after 25 minutes.

“We were playing really well. I was stood there on a lovely day, a typical football day with a little drizzle.

“And I’m thinking ‘wow, we are doing well’. And we go in at half-time 3-0 down. I couldn’t even fault the lads, because they were just amazing. They’ve moved football on so much so I really hope they win the Champions League.”
