Pep Guardiola talks Man Utd and Liverpool title race after Man City beat Palace
Pep Guardiola has predicted a bumpy ride in the Premier League title race between Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool.
The 2019 champions put themselves two points behind their city rivals with a game in hand after beating Crystal Palace 4-0.
They grabbed the opportunity to climb up the table as United failed to beat Liverpool in a 0-0 draw at Anfield.
While City put themselves in a strong position to reclaim the title, Guardiola is keeping level-headed ahead of a three-way battle for the trophy.
Speaking to Sky Sports in his post-match interview, the City boss said: “Crystal Palace. I'm not able to say much further. I'm pretty sure there will be bad moments during the season.
“It's not a problem, we fought a lot when we were eight points behind before we played Southampton. We fought to be there and we will fight a lot to maintain to be there. Many things will happen, it's a weird season.
“That's why I don't think about the position in the table, what will happen in the future is rest well and prepare for Aston Villa.”
City’s win at the Etihad Stadium means they have their last five Premier League games in a row, remaining unbeaten since their visit to Tottenham in November.
While United are also in a good vein of form, keeping their own invincible run of 12 games going.
The draw at Anfield was less positive for Liverpool, though, as they made it four games without a Premier League win.
While it was the first time since March 2005 that the Reds had gone three league games without scoring.
And United legend Roy Keane made a bold statement on who would win the title race while sending a warning to his former club.
He said on Sky Sports : “I don't know. I change my mind every few weeks.
“These type of performances, certainly, I think United should go back tonight and be encouraged.
“The next part is the hardest part – in terms of staying up there.
“Now they've not quite shown that yet. But overall I'd be pleased with their performance. If you want to win trophies and prizes you're not going to play every game well.
“Winning these tight games – if you want to win to the league you need to win these tight games.”
