Pep Guardiola made cheeky comment about Leicester to Maddison after match

James Maddison has revealed Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola made a cheeky jib towards the Englishman after the full-time whistle had blown.

A moment of individual brilliance from Kevin De Bruyne separated the two Leicester only threatened in the last ten minutes of the clash, and Guardiola wasn't too impressed.

Speaking to BT Sport after the game, Maddison said: "Pep was asking me at the end why we didn't play like that for the whole game, but he knows it's not that simple!"

He added: "There were times where you felt you didn't touch the ball for 10 minutes. That's what it's like when you play one of the best teams in the world. The difference was a moment of brilliance from probably the best player in the Premier League [De Bruyne]."

While Leicester boss Brendon Rodgers was happy with his sides' performance: "The players carried out the gameplan as well as we could have asked them to. You have to still be in the game with 20 minutes to go.

"Defensively we were very, very good but we lacked belief at times and that let us down.

"We had good chances in the game and we were unfortunate not to nick something. You have to concede that you are playing arguably the best team in the world, they can play through you and around you.

"There are lots of elements we can be better in. But the spirit of the team and the mentality was we kept fighting."

City moved to the top of the table with the win on Saturday lunchtime, but Arsenal can reclaim their spot at the top of the pile on Sunday should they win.
