Paul Pogba’s injury update could give Man Utd star time to sort transfer

Ralf Rangnick's latest Paul Pogba injury update could give the Manchester United midfielder more time to sort himself a summer transfer.

Pogba's future at Old Trafford has been in doubt for a number of months with his contract set to expire at the end of the season, with a new deal yet to be agreed.

It had been reported that United have offered the Frenchman a new deal that would make him the best paid player in Premier League history in a bid to keep him at the club.

However, Rangnick's latest comments clarify that Pogba will not return from injury this month and that he is free to talk to foreign clubs.

Speaking to the United website, Rangnick said: “As far as I know, I was told a week ago, it would be a minimum of at least another four or five weeks before he is fit for training again.

“I saw him this morning before the training session, he was in the locker room, and I hope he will be back as soon as possible.”

Pogba has been sidelined with a hamstring injury since November after sustaining the injury in training while on international duty with France.

Rangnick went on to add: “Right now, he’s not been part of the training group and, even if he was back whenever, two, three or four weeks, it will take some time.

Will Paul Pogba remain at Manchester United beyond the end of the season? Let us know in the comments section below.

“It’s one thing to be training fit but, on the other hand, he needs to be fit for the match and competition in either the Premier League or the Champions League and this will still take some time.”

With Pogba's contract into its final six months, he is now free to speak to foreign clubs and sign a pre-contract agreement to join them in the summer.

He has long been linked with a move away from Old Trafford and French giants Paris Saint-Germain were strongly linked with a move for Pogba in the summer.

Having splashed out a club record £94.5million fee to re-sign Pogba from Juventus in 2016, United could now be set to lose him for nothing in the summer.
