Paul Gascoigne’s meal with Liam Gallagher descended into fire extinguisher fight
Paul Gascoigne has lifted the lid on how his first meeting with Liam Gallagher ended in him being sprayed with a fire extinguisher over a disagreement about a steak dinner.
Gazza had been told the Oasis icon was in The Groucho Club – a private members club in Soho, London – and went to say hello.
Noting the establishment was "posh as f***", the former England midfielder went inside and approached Gallagher.
Their conversation began well but things took a turn for the worse after Gazza turned down the offer of food, only to then eat Gallagher's while he was in the toilet.
Recalling the incident and what happened next, Gascoigne told the Anything Goes with James English podcast : "I was in London and someone said 'Liam Gallagher's in the restaurant – posh as f***'.
"And I went 'All right', so I go to the taxi and I went up and I went 'Hi, Liam'.
"[It was the] first time I'd met him, he went 'How are you, you all right, Gazza? Sit down'.
"And he had a big fillet steak in front of him and had a couple of drinks and he went 'Do you want a steak?'.

"I went 'Nah, nah, I'm not hungry'. He went 'All right, just two seconds, I'm going to the toilet'.
"He went to the toilet and I f****** ate his steak. And he comes back and he went 'Where's my f****** steak?'.
"And I rubbed my stomach and I went 'Ah, cheers'. And he went 'F*** it'.
"So I thought 'He's away to order another steak'. And he comes back with a fire extinguisher and just f****** mullered us all over.
"Wow, Jesus Christ. He just sprayed it all over his madam, just all over the table. [He] didn't give a f*** – just put it down, then we just started eating again, having a few drinks."
Despite the restaurant bust-up, Gazza, 53, appears to be on good terms Gallagher, 48.
He added: "Yeah, I had some laughs with him. He's a good guy as well, f****** talented. So I've had the opportunity to meet a lot of famous people but I just treat them like everyone you meet.
"I just feel like a normal guy lucky enough to be good with his feet."
