Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel could come to regret his decision to allow Marc Guehi to join Crystal Palace this summer after Eagles manager Patrick Vieira tipped the defender to become an international in the future. Guehi joined Palace on a five-year deal after the south Londoners shelled out £18million for him.
The 21-year-old has played every minute of Premier League action for the Eagles this season, forming a solid partnership with Joachim Andersen at the heart of the Palace backline.
Palace have kept two clean sheets in their opening seven league games and have proved hard to beat this season.
Vieira’s side have only lost to Chelsea and Liverpool since the start of the campaign and they stormed to a thumping 3-0 victory over Tottenham last month.
The Eagles have drawn four of their matches and look comfortable in midtable, despite being tipped for relegation before the campaign got underway.
“He’s a young player who wants to develop himself,” Vieira said of Guehi ahead of his side’s clash with Arsenal on Monday night.
“He wants to really fulfil his potential – and his work ethic and his concentration is really good.
“This is why I believe that he has the attributes to be one day an international player.
“As a manager and a football club, we will give him the support that he needs to keep improving and to keep challenging himself.
“He is really calm, really composed. His competitiveness is unbelievable.

“He’s really calm but really competitive on the field. It’s really a pleasure for myself and my staff to work with him.”
Despite his good form at Palace, Chelsea don’t appear to be missing the centre-back just yet as they have kept an impressive five clean sheets in their eight Premier League games this term.
But they looked shaky at the back during their 1-0 victory over Brentford on Saturday and, if it weren’t for Edouard Mendy’s inspired performance between the posts, the result could have been very different.
Tuchel bases his side’s success around a solid defence and, should the backline struggle later in the season, the German could be wishing he never sanctioned a move for Guehi.
The player, who enjoyed a loan spell at Swansea City in the Championship last season, looks destined for a big future in the game and was named England under-21 captain in September.
“It was always a tough decision, leaving your boyhood club where you’ve played for so long,” Guehi admitted as he prepares to face the Gunners.
“I’m really glad I’m here and, as I said, I think it was the right decision.
“Since I’ve got here, the fans have been fantastic with me so I’ve really enjoyed my time so far.”
