Chelsea favourite Pat Nevin has thanks fans for their sympathies after he was let go from the club's media team without notice.
Former Blues winger Nevin, 60, was recently informed 'from higher up' that his services would no longer be required at the Premier League outfit. The ex-Scotland international has contributed written articles for the club's website and matchday programme for around 13 years, while he's also appeared as a co-commentator on Chelsea stations.
It's understood Nevin received no direct communication from owner Todd Boehly or his immediate subordinates that he'd be withdrawn from those roles. However, the 1984 Second Division champion held no grudges as he gave an empathetic response to the development on Friday.

"Such kind sentiments re my CFC departure," he wrote on X (formerly Twitter). "Thank you all. So kind of everyone, but honestly don’t stress-others losing their jobs and now in dire financials circs are more worthy of consideration. I’m happy, busy, (promoting my recent book for Xmas and BBC work)."
Nevin – who continues to work for BBC Radio 5 Live – signed off his post by paying his respects to Shane MacGowan, the late Pogues singer whose death was confirmed on Thursday. He also shared an image of his book, 'Football and How to Survive It', which was released in June of this year.

The Telegraph reported Nevin wasn't told in the summer as to whether his work would be required at Stamford Bridge this season (in any format). And after not being explicitly told his commentary commitments were obsolete, he simply 'presumed his services are not required' anymore.
Nevin was similarly understanding when speaking to the newspaper earlier this week, as he said: “There are no bad feelings, you just shrug your shoulders and move on. A few people have told me I should be angry about the way I found out, but that’s not me. I’ve never really been like that. I’ve got no high expectations just because I played for the club or anything like that. You do a job and then you don’t.”

Blues supporters were quick to offer Nevin – who made 242 appearances for the club – their sympathies in the wake of his exit. Some sent messages of hope he'd be back working with Chelsea soon, while others reminded the former Everton and Tranmere star of his fine written works.
It's been reported the decision to let Nevin go was made by an employee 'who is no longer at the club'. Furthermore, it's alleged his position may be reviewed in future, suggesting fans may not have seen the last of him around Stamford Bridge just yet.
