Ozan Kabak faced Robert Lewandowski battle just days before Liverpool transfer

Liverpool 's Ozan Kabak was put through his paces by Robert Lewandowski during their Bundesliga showdown.

The veteran Polish striker and his high-flying colleagues traveled to the Veltins-Arena the Sunday before last as huge favourites thanks to the respective form books.

While Bayern Munich sit seven points clear at the top of the table as they go out in search of a ninth consecutive title, Schalke have won only once across their 19 fixtures so far this season.

The meeting went with the form guide, with Bayern having an astonishing 31 shots in total as well as 60 per cent of the ball and 13 shots on target.

Of those 13 shots, Lewandowski found the net either side of Thomas Muller’s brace with David Alaba scoring in added time to make it 4-0.

Kabak in particular had a game to forget.

Having lost out lost out a header to Muller early on, he was caught napping as Lewandowski found the target in the second-half.

The 20-year-old’s Who Scored rating came in at just 6.4 out of ten, which was the third worst score of any of the players who featured.

The official statement reads: “Liverpool have completed the transfer of Ozan Kabak from Schalke 04 on loan until the end of the season, subject to international clearance.

“The 20-year-old defender will spend the remainder of 2020-21 with the Reds after he put pen to paper on the deal on deadline day.

“Kabak completed the formalities of the switch in Germany and will travel to Merseyside later this week.

“The Turkey international arrives at Anfield after two years in the Bundesliga, where he represented VfB Stuttgart before joining Schalke in July 2019.

“Prior to moving to Germany, Kabak came through the ranks at Galatasaray, where he gained Champions League experience with four appearances in the tournament in 2018-19.

“On the international front, he has earned seven caps for Turkey to date.

“He will wear No.19 for Liverpool.”
