Oxlade-Chamberlain amazed by Thiagos response to question on thunderball goal
Liverpool continued their winning run in the Champions League with a 2-0 victory over Porto, and goalscorer Thiago baffled fans with his reaction to the stunning strike.
Reds boss Jurgen Klopp bamboozled fans by starting the likes of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane when their spot in the knockout stages was already confirmed in a bid to keep up the club’s good form.
And the starting eleven that the former Borussia Dortmund boss fielded certainly succeeded with that.
Salah scored the second with a great mazy run and finish, but the headlines were already written after Spanish midfielder Thiago scored a screamer in the 52nd minute.
The ball bounced into the path of the former Bayern Munich playmaker about 25 yards from goal and Thiago hit the sweetest of strikes with his right foot which fizzed inches above the grass before nestling into the far corner.
But, when asked whether he had ever scored a ‘prettier’ goal before, the 30-year-old replied: “I think, yeah!”
The reaction then led to Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who was standing alongside Thiago, hilariously saying; “It’s alright for some, isn’t it?”

The Englishman was clearly jaw-dropped by both the answer to the question and the goal itself as he continued to laugh in disbelief to himself.
But it wasn’t just Oxlade-Chamberlain who was stunned by the goal, his manager Klopp was also full of praise for Thiago’s ‘thunderball’.
“We had bigger chances in the game but we scored with that situation,” he said of the opener.
“Whoever sees Thiago in training knows he has the technique to do it but even with this technique it doesn’t happen constantly that he can fire such a thunderball.
“It was good timing, a great goal.
“We needed some luck in moments; they (Porto) came through and had big chances counter-attacking which were tricky to defend but didn’t score and we scored twice and controlled the game in the second half much better.”
Liverpool have now scored two or more goals in all of their group stage games so far this campaign and are beginning to look like one of the most competitive clubs in the competition – as well as fellow English teams Chelsea and Manchester City.
