Napoli striker Victor Osimhen lashed out at fans clamouring for his signature as he left the club’s training ground on Monday.
The 24-year-old, who picked up a hamstring injury while on international duty with Nigeria, has seen his relationship with the Serie A champions become increasingly strained in recent weeks.
After firing the club to their first title in 33 years last term, and receiving the level of adulation previously reserved only for Diego Maradona, Osimhen looks set to leave the side under a cloud.
Last month he was the subject of two controversial videos posted by the club’s official TikTok account. The first video showed the 24-year-old appealing for a penalty, with sped-up audio captioned ‘Gimme penalty please’ before showing him putting the spot-kick wide.
A second video, which has been circulated online and since deleted, compared Osimhen to a ‘coconut’ – widely viewed as a racial slur.

Liverpool are reportedly keen on Napoli star Victor Osimhen and sent a scout to observe him on international duty with Nigeria
Napoli responded by issuing a statement pleading their innocence but the relationship between player and club appears to have been heavily affected by the incident.
This week’s episode did little to silence rumours last season’s top scorer could be on his way out of the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium as Osimhen was captured raging at supporters who stood in his path as he left training.
The images show that Osimhen still has an empassioned support in Naples as he was unable to chart a course through the fans desperate to get his autograph.
But the forward’s angry reaction, in which he can be seen gesturing to fans surrounding his vehicle, has certainly raised questions about his future with Rudy Garcia’s side.
According to reports, a host of European giants have been put on high-alert by the ongoing tensions including the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea.
