Origi ‘took the p***’ out of Maguire with acrobatic Liverpool goal

Liverpool supporters are currently the only personnel in football today who have been more ruthless and efficient than Mohamed Salah himself.

The predatory forward, who has affectionately become known as ‘The Egyptian King’, scored a hat-trick to make it 10 Premier League goals for the season, as Jurgen Klopp’s side obliterated Manchester United 5-0 at Old Trafford.

Every goal scored by the ruthless Merseysiders was another dagger to the heart of United fans, as well as manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who now faces a fight to remain in the Old Trafford dugout.

And Liverpool fans are not wasting any opportunities, no matter how vague, to remind their fiercest rivals of the result.

The latest amusing reminder came after Liverpool fans spotted Divock Origi’s impressive heel flick against Preston North End in the Carabao Cup.

Incredibly, the scorpion kick looked almost identical to the bizarre stretch United captain Harry Maguire performed just before last weekend’s contest.

Origi showed impressive intuition and creativity, as he managed to lob Preston goalkeeper Declan Rudd with an outrageous heel volley.

And eagle eyed supporters eyed another opportunity to drag their rivals across the coals, as they pointed out the similarity on Twitter with some cheeky jibes at their rivals.

One fan posted Maguire’s stretch, along with the caption: “Love Divock Origi taking the p*** out of Harry Maguire with that finish.”

Another supporter posted both Origi’s finish and Maguire’s pre-match routine side by side with the caption, “ORIGI/MAGUIRE”.

It is unlikely United fans will see the funny side as they are currently in a sticky situation.

The heavy defeat has left the Red Devils in seventh place, eight points adrift of current league leaders Chelsea and three points off the top four.

However, with vital matches against Tottenham Hotspur, Atalanta, and Manchester City to come, United’s misery could be exacerbated with more unfavourable results.

And if they do find themselves on the wrong end of some heavy results, Liverpool supporters, just like Salah right now, will not miss a single opportunity to rub salt in the wound.
