Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is reportedly closing in on a new deal with Manchester United. Despite failing to win a trophy at Old Trafford since replacing Jose Mourinho in 2018, Ed Woodward is said to be convinced the club is on the right path.
United are set to offer the Norwegian a new contract that will tie him to the club until 2024.
With that in mind, Express Sport has taken a look at how United could line-up by the time his deal ends.
Goalkeeper – Dean Henderson
The England international’s performances since replacing David de Gea have indicated that he is a longterm option in between the sticks.
De Gea will be 33 by the time the 2023/24 season ends and it is likely the two parties will have come to an amicable parting by then.
Henderson has the chance to stake a claim as the true No.1 at Old Trafford.

Defenders – Luke Shaw, Pau Torres, Harry Maguire, Aaron Wan-Bissaka
Aged just 25 and 23 respectively, there is no reason not to expect Shaw and Wan-Bissaka will still be the United full-backs in three years.
The two have dovetailed perfectly this season and as long as the attacking output continues, it is likely to be a partnership for years to come.
Maguire will be 31 by then, but has a long contract with the club and his standing as club captain, means he is sure to still be around.
Alongside him, Pau Torres is seen as the left-footed partner Maguire has been crying out for. He could replace Victor Lindelof within the next couple of windows.

Midfielders – Declan Rice, Scott McTominay
McTominay is proving himself to be a valuable asset to Solskjaer and could be at his peak years by the time the end of Solskjaer’s new contract.
If the Norwegian opts to move away from two sitting midfielders, it could open up hs options, but we’ve seen little sign of that so far, so Rice fits the bill accordingly.
He will cost a huge portion of any team’s budget, with West Ham recently placing a valuation of around £100m on him.
However, he could be the lynchpin of this midfield for years to come and could be worth every penny.
Forwards – Amad, Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford
18-year-old Amad has recently been tipped to be in contention for the Ballon d’Or in the next five years. And while that is optimistic, United will hope their big investment is reaping benefits in the long-term.
Bruno Fernandes meanwhile will be 29 and hopefully stil influencing the games to the level he is at currently.
While Marcus Rashford at 26, could be at the top of his game and continuing to contribute the kind of goal tallies that we have seen at the start of his career.
And up top…who else but Erling Haaland?
Solskjaer and his compatriot appear on a collision course and although it will likely break records, it’s a transfer that could automatically change their fortunes.
If Haaland is at United, it is very difficult to envision trophies not following.
