Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was still at Carrington three hours after Man Utd sack
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer spent hours saying his goodbyes and collecting belongings at Carrington on Sunday following the official confirmation of his Manchester United sacking.
The former Cardiff and Molde boss was informed that his contract had been terminated just hours after their Premier League clash against Watford ended in a 4-1 defeat.
With United now 12-points behind leaders Chelsea, Solskjaer left the club with his head held high and briefly left his car to hug a supporter on his way out the gates.
Although the club immediately confirmed that Michael Carrick would be taking charge of the team until an interim boss is appointed, Solskjaer was in no rush to leave.
MEN Sport report that Solskjaer arrived at United's Carrington base at 9am on Sunday, and that executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward followed shortly after.
They add that while the official announcement came at 10:30am, their former coach didn't leave until 2pm, having said goodbye to players and staff.
Moving forward, Carrick will take charge of the side for their upcoming fixtures, with a Champions League clash against Villarreal coming before a Premier League tie against Chelsea.

United said of their former striker: "Ole will always be a legend at Manchester United and it is with regret that we have reached this difficult decision.
"While the past few weeks have been disappointing, they should not obscure all the work he has done over the past three years to rebuild the foundations for long-term success.
"Ole leaves with our sincerest thanks for his tireless efforts as Manager and our very best wishes for the future. His place in the club’s history will always be secure, not just for his story as a player, but as a great man and a Manager who gave us many great moments.
"He will forever be welcome back at Old Trafford as part of the Manchester United family."
Current United stars and club legends have offered emotional responses to Solskjaer's exit, with his final record standing at 91 wins from 168 matches with 37 draws and 40 defeats.
Harry Maguire wrote: "You signed me for the best club in the world and gave me the biggest honour in football. Huge respect and forever grateful. Thankyou for everything boss."
With Patrice Evra saying: "Thank you for making us believe in @ManUtd again my friend…"
With David Beckham saying: “The most gracious man in the room.”
