Odegaard agents and Arsenal come to agreement on his future as PSG chase star
Martin Odegaard’s representatives and Arsenal agree there is no rush to sign a new contract as both parties want the same thing, reports claim. Talks are planned to discuss an extension to the Norwegian’s deal but it may be several months before it is finalised.
Odegaard has been one of the stars of the Premier League this season. He was Arsenal’s joint-top goalscorer with 15 goals from midfield, as well as contributing seven assists.
It was his first campaign as club captain and he took to the role with aplomb. Odegaard has just two years remaining on his contract at the Emirates.
Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly admirers of the former Real Madrid starlet. However, that is not worrying the Gunners just yet.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, writing in his Caught Offside column, claims talks are set to be held at some point between Odegaard’s agents and the club. However, there is no immediate rush to get a deal over the line.
Odegaard wants to stay at Arsenal and the club are more than happy with how he has performed since joining on a permanent transfer in the summer of 2021. Romano, therefore, says news of an extension may not happen until later this year.
Arsenal have recently tied down the futures of two of their top talents. Bukayo Saka signed a new four-year deal to keep him at Arsenal until 2027.
Goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale penned a contract until 2026 with the option of a further year. Talks continue to be held with defender William Saliba.

Saliba’s deal expires in just over a year’s time and there will be no shortage of suitors if he cannot agree an extension, with PSG also interested in the 22-year-old. The Frenchman had a fine breakthrough season in the Premier League before a back injury cruelly stopped him in his tracks in March.
Gunners boss Mikel Arteta has repeatedly been asked about the future of Saliba. Last month, he insisted all parties want the same resolution but conceded that a resolution may not be quick.
Arteta said: “We are trying. We are having conversations and we are trying to maintain the talent we have at the club as I said before.
“But things take time. You have to agree it. There are different parties involved. I think everybody’s intention is the same and hopefully we’ll find the right solution.”
