Nuno Espirito Santo set to hold talks with Harry Kane on Monday
Nuno Espirito Santo set to hold talks with Harry Kane on Monday as he looks to convince the Tottenham talisman to stay at the club despite interest from reigning Premier League champions Manchester City
- Spurs boss Nuno Espirito Santo plans to hold talks with Harry Kane on Monday
- Kane is currently seeking a move away from Spurs to league rivals Man City
- However, Nuno is looking to convince the England captain to stay at Tottenham
Nuno Espirito Santo plans to hold talks with Harry Kane on Monday after the want-away striker finally returned to the club on Saturday.
After an extended post-Euros break to the Bahamas and Florida, preventing him reporting as expected last Monday, Kane is now in isolation further delaying his involvement in Nuno’s plans.
Kane, who wants to quit to join Manchester City, who the north Londoners host in their season opener on Sunday, is isolating at Spurs Lodge, the hotel facility at their Enfield HQ, and training alone.

But Spurs, who have made a £60m-plus move for Inter striker Lautaro Martinez, do not expect Kane to available to join the rest of Nuno’s squad in full training until Thursday.
Following Spurs’s friendly draw at Chelsea on Wednesday, summer appointment Nuno confirmed he had yet to speak to Kane. But after their 1-0 win over against Arsenal yesterday, Nuno, who refused to discuss Martinez, said: ‘It’s true he [Kane] is with us. Already made his first day the with sports scientists. He is with us and already training. He’s good.

However, he was forced to isolate further delaying his involvement in Nuno’s plan
‘We expect to integrate Harry when he follows all the protocols we have to apply. Today was the day of the match but I will speak with him as soon as possible because he is already at The Lodge. We have a training session tomorrow and with social distancing hopefully I will speak with Harry.’
Spurs have moved to beat Arsenal to Martinez by stepping up their interest in the striker and agreeing a deal with Inter.
Tottenham remain adamant Kane will not be sold and have targeted Martinez to play alongside the England captain.
Spurs firmed up their interest in Martinez last week. However their move for Martinez has been complicated by Lukaku’s imminent £97.5m switch from Inter to Chelsea, which also accelerated last week and is close to being finalised.

Inter are in serious financial trouble, needing to raise significant funds and slash their wage bill by up to 30 per cent, but do not want to sell both of their strikers.
Martinez’s preference will also be a factor. His agent Alejandro Camano said: ‘Lautaro is happy at Inter and in Italy. His decision is to stay.’
Spurs were without their current club record signing, midfielder Tanguy Ndombele, against Arsenal and he has yet to feature in pre-season.
Nuno said: ‘He is not injured but we consider it is not yet the moment for him to be part of the game.’
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta was equally cryptic about the absence of midfielder Joe Willock, a £22m target for Newcastle.
‘With Joe, I will explain the reasons when we can,’ Arteta said. ‘When I can say more I will let you know.’
