Nottingham Forest snatch teen striker from Manchester United

Nottingham Forest have announced three signings for their academy on Thursday, including teenage striker Manni Norkett from Manchester United.

Also arriving at the City Ground are Will Brook from Leeds United and Harry Griffiths from AFC Wimbledon, both of whom are goalkeepers.

Nottingham Forest’s assistant academy manager, Chris McGuane, said: ‘We are delighted to welcome Harry, Manni and Will to the club at such an exciting time.

‘Each of them bring their own qualities and experience which we hope to add to an already very strong group as we continue to look to significantly enhance our academy provision.

‘Together with the first team we hope to create new opportunities for players of the highest potential and look forward to bringing the boys on that journey as we view them as exciting prospects for the future.’

18-year-old Norkett signed for Manchester United when he was 13 in 2018 after interest from a number of top flight clubs.

He has gone on to be a regular scorer for the Red Devils’ Under-18 side and also performed for the Under-21s, making his debut for that age range in 2021.

United said in a statement: ‘We would like to wish Manni the very best of luck at Forest, and hope to come across him in Premier League 2 next season.’

Nottingham Forest’s first team coach Steve Cooper has an excellent record of working with young players and the three new arrivals will hope to get the chance to catch his eye in the near future.
