Norwich fans slammed for whipping phones out and filming Ronaldo celebration

Norwich City fans have been slammed for filming Cristiano Ronaldo's goal celebration in Manchester United's narrow win at Carrow Road on Saturday.

United struggled to breakdown the Canaries, who are rock-bottom of the Premier League, but were able to make it two wins from two under Ralf Rangnick in the top-flight thanks to Ronaldo's late penalty.

With just 15 minutes remaining in what was a hard-fought contest, the Portuguese No.7 was hauled to the ground by Max Aarons, leaving the referee with no choice but to award a spot-kick.

Ronaldo dusted himself off and duly dispatched the resulting penalty, sending Tim Krul the wrong way, much to the frustration of some – but not all – Norwich fans.

While most fans slumped back in their seats after seeing their side go 1-0 down, some Canaries supporters took advantage of the opportunity of seeing Ronaldo live in the flesh.

A number of home fans behind the goal could be seen smiling and whipping out their phones to take videos and photos of the 36-year-old as he celebrated directly in front of them.

Social media users couldn't believe it and voiced their discontent on Twitter.

One person said: "@NorwichCityFC really should ban every fan in this taking a photo/video of @Cristiano putting @ManUtd one up. At least now we know what the fans were at when #Delia called them out."

Someone else added: "Norwich fans booing Ronaldo the whole game just to take pictures of him doing the siuuuu."

"No way Norwich fans are happy to see Ronaldo score a penalty against them," added another.

A third person demanded the Canaries be relegating, saying: "Norwich fans filming Ronaldo scoring and celebrating against them relegate them immediately."

While a fourth user chimed in with: "Norwich fans filming Ronaldo’s celebration after scoring against them? Shocking behaviour."

"Actually embarrassing. Ronaldo scored against Norwich and their fans are getting pics some even smiling," bemoaned another.

Ronaldo's penalty ensured United remain unbeaten under Rangnick and moved the Red Devils back up to fifth in the Premier League table, level on points with West Ham.

Norwich remain bottom.
