Norwich City promoted back to Premier League after just one season away
Norwich City have been promoted back to the Premier League just one season after their relegation.
Daniel Farke's side are not in action until 8pm on Saturday evening when they host Bournemouth, but their promotion was sealed when Swansea were held to a 2-2 draw at home to Wycombe.
That result left the third-placed Swans on 76 points with four of their regular season matches left, meaning that they are unable to catch the Canaries who sit on 90 points.
Second placed Watford can still catch Norwich at the top of the table, but they also dropped points on Saturday when they lost 1-0 at Luton.
Norwich are eight points clear the of the Hornets at the top, and are five points away from securing the Championship title.
Farke saw his side finish bottom of the Premier League last season with a miserable record of just five wins from their 38 matches.
But although they picked up just 21 points, the German's side still earned plaudits for their style of football and the manner that the often played against the top sides, having beaten then-reigning champions Manchester City 3-2 back in September 2019.
Although they lost defenders Ben Godfrey and Jamal Lewis to Everton and Newcastle respectively prior to the start of the season, the Canaries were able to hold on to key performers such as Teemu Pukki, Todd Cantwell and Emi Buendia, who attracted January transfer interest from Arsenal.
Pukki is the second-top goalscorer in the Championship this season, with his 25 strikes seeing him behind only Brentford's Ivan Toney.
Norwich also possess the joint-best defensive record in the Championship having conceded 28 goals along with Watford.
