Norwich ball boy ‘trampled on’ by angry players in incident like ‘Hazard part 2’

Championship fans have torn into Norwich City and Blackburn Rovers after several players “trampled” over a Carrow Road ball boy.

The Canaries endured a very frustrating evening after losing 2-0 at home to fellow promotion rivals Blackburn. A fourth minute own goal from Ben Gibbs immediately handed the lead to Blackburn, who eventually secured the points with four minutes left of normal time through Tyrhys Dolan.

However, one of the more intense moments of the game came when Blackburn goalkeeper Thomas Kaminski caused a huge fracas by putting the ball in-between himself and a sitting Norwich ball boy and refused to budge. Unfortunately, the young lad ended up finding himself on the bottom of a Championship player pile-on.

And the sight of the youngster trying to dislodge himself from a pile of Championship stars has reminded supporters of the time Eden Hazard kicked a Swansea City ball boy in 2013. "Those two seasoned professionals getting that ball boy caught in that situation better find the kid after the game and apologise. Very poor behaviour," one furious supporter wrote on social media.

"Oh no, we’ve got a player fighting with a ball boy. Poor look from Thomas Kaminski," another fan commented. "When we said ‘show some passion’ we didn’t mean all pile on the ball boy," a fan of the Canaries laughed.

However, other supporters did not have much sympathy for the ball boy and even poked fun at him. "Norwich ball boy getting absolutely bundled there, hilarious," one cruel supporter laughed.

"F***ing hell that poor ball boy was getting trampled on and they just carried on scrapping like he wasn’t there," another added. "Ha ha ha, kicking off with the ball boy now," a rival fan giggled on Twitter.

Norwich hitman Teemu Pukki was trying to retrieve the ball, but Kaminski got in his way and managed to push the ball against the feet of the ball boy. Possibly unaware of the young lad, who was perched on a stool, Pukki pushed against the goalkeeper, who was almost being propped up by the scared looking youngster.

A Canary cavalry featuring Josh Sargent, Onel Hernandez and Adam Hidah arrived onto the scene, but if anything, they merely squeezed the ball boy up against the advertising boarding more. When some space opened up, the youngster was lifted over the boarding and taken away from the chaos at the side off the pitch.

It’s very easy to see why the incident reminded many fans off Hazard’s incident with a Swansea City ball boy. As well as being shown a red card, Hazard was forced to issue a grovelling apology after he kicked young Swansea ball boy Charlie Morgan.

The youngster managed to provoke the now Real Madrid forward by laying on top of the ball when Chelsea were chasing a 2-0 aggregate lead in the League Cup semi-final. While he was trying to get the ball from underneath him, Hazard’s attempts to dislodge the ball by kicking it only saw him kick the ball boy instead.
