Noel Gallagher aims cheeky Man Utd dig as Man City cruise past Bayern
Man City v Bayern Munich: Pictures
Noel Gallagher has aimed a stinging dig at Manchester United after his beloved Manchester City stormed past Bayern Munich in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie. City were dominant against the reigning German champions and put one foot in the last-four thanks to goals by Rodri, Bernardo Silva and Erling Haaland.
Pep Guardiola’s side remain on course to win a remarkable treble this season. With a game in hand over Premier League leaders Arsenal and with the prospect of beating the Gunners later this month, City have the upper hand in a thrilling title race.
They are also on the hunt for the first Champions League of Guardiola’s reign and take on Championship outfit Sheffield United later this month for a place in the FA Cup final. While still a monumental challenge, City are arguably favourites to win all three trophies.
Boyhood fan Gallagher has now taken a swipe at rivals United, subtly suggesting that the Red Devils will be beaten by Brighton in their FA Cup semi-final. The Oasis star suggested City’s cup final opponents will ‘probably’ be the Seagulls.

Asked on talkSPORT if winning a treble of honours is a possibility, Gallagher announced: “Oh you better believe it.
“Because we’ve got Sheffield United in the FA Cup semi-final, probably Brighton in the final – if we get there. Then hopefully Chelsea will somehow manage to jam it against Real Madrid and then we’ll annihilate them.”
City stunned Bayern on Tuesday night and are in an enormously strong position heading into next week’s second leg in Germany. Guardiola said there is ‘something special’ about his side playing at the Etihad Stadium – which could provide plenty of momentum heading into the season’s final two months.

“I know what we have to do there, and we have to perform really well. They are able to score one, two, three, I know it and the players know it. It was an incredible result but we have to do our game with a huge, huge personality because they are a top team.
“Here we have our chances. Here in this stadium we are something special this season. When we have the momentum, we are clinical.
“It is the same in Munich. I have been there for three years. I know what it means and the people. But we are going there to score the goals and to try to win the game. To do that will be so difficult.”
