‘No food or drink’ at Old Trafford sees furious Man Utd fans slam Glazers

An announcement that there was no food or drink at Old Trafford on Friday night led to furious Manchester United fans slamming the Glazers.

The controversial United owners were targeted by fans unhappy with the revelation that they would not be able to buy any half-time refreshments.

United took on Championship side Middlesbrough in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Friday night and had been leading 1-0 thanks to Jadon Sancho heading into the interval.

However, a chorus of boos was soon ringing around the stadium following the unwelcome announcement just moments before the referee ended the opening 45 minutes.

Fans were told that due to a technical issue at Old Trafford, the bars and kiosks in the stadium would not be able to serve food or drink at half-time.

Boos immediately rang round the stadium before the home fans turned on the controversial United owners with a chant of “We want Glazer out”.

Their anger at the Glazer family was supported on social media as a number of supporters took to Twitter to slam those running the club.

One fan tweeted: “Man Utd are so badly run they can’t even have food or drink at half time. And only announce it 1 minute before half time. Absolute joke of a club.”

Meanwhile, another joked: “No food or drink available at half time at Old Trafford tonight. Never mind Man Utd fans, you can pick something up at Norton Cane Services on the M6 on your way home.”

United fans' frustrations were soon compounded after the break as Sancho's opener was cancelled out by Matt Crooks in the 64th minute.

The Boro midfielder tapped home Duncan Watmore's lobbed effort from close range to pull Chris Wilder's side back on level terms and send the match to extra-time.

Many inside the ground felt the goal should not have stood, though, after the ball struck Watmore's hand in the build-up.
