Nick Pope is in line to return for Burnley’s final game of the season against Sheffield United easing any concerns for Gareth Southgate ahead of the Euros.

Southgate names his 26-man England squad for the tournament next Tuesday.

Pope has become a regular in Southgate’s squads and started all three of England’s games during the March international break in the absence of the injured Jordan Pickford.

Nick Pope could return for Burnley’s final game of the season against Sheffield United

Burnley’s first choice goalkeeper was sidelined for two games last month due to a shoulder problem and has also been battling a minor knee problem recently.

Though it was an illness which forced him to miss Burnley’s 3-0 defeat to Liverpool on Wednesday.

And, providing he shakes that off, Pope will be back in contention for a recall against the Blades ahead of Southgate’s announcement next week.

His return could ease any concerns for Gareth Southgate ahead of the Euros this summer
