Neymar picks club he dreams of joining as Man Utd and Chelsea linked

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag reviews the Sevilla game

Neymar has revealed he ‘dreams’ of returning to his former club Santos. That is despite the Brazil icon being linked with Premier League moves to Chelsea or Manchester United amid an uncertain future at Paris Saint-Germain.

The attacker has been ruled out for the remainder of the Ligue 1 season after undergoing surgery on a long-term ankle problem. There are concerns that he may have played his last game for the Parisians, with reports in France claiming that Neymar could be one of the main victims of PSG streamlining their wage bill over the coming months.

Chelsea were linked with a move in the previous two transfer windows, while United have apparently shown some interest. However, Neymar has claimed himself that he would like to return to Santos – the Brazilian outfit where he started his professional career.

Neymar has been recovering back home in Brazil following surgery in Qatar. The former Barcelona star was in the stands for Santos’s recent clash with Audax and promised to return to the club.

“One day, I will come back. I will come back. It’s great to come back to my house. I feel at home here, I’m so happy to come back after ten years. Unfortunately, it’s a draw, I wanted them to win,” he was quoted as saying by Brazilian outlet Globoesporte.

“I came here to support Santos and receive the affection of the supporters. It was the club that gave me everything, that opened the doors, to me and my family, that revealed me to the world. I am very happy and happy to be here. If I dream of it, imagine [how supporters feel].”

Neymar has not played for PSG since February 19. It was decided that he would have surgery on a long-term ankle problem in March.

At the time, PSG said: “Neymar Jr has had several episodes of right ankle instability in recent years. Following his last sprain contracted on February 20, the medical staff of Paris Saint-Germain recommended a ligament repair operation, in order to avoid a major risk of recurrence. All of the experts consulted confirmed this need.

“This surgery will be performed in the coming days at ASPETAR Hospital in Doha.”

Neymar has two years remaining on his contract with PSG. TeamTalk reported in February that he was ‘on course’ to move to the Premier League in the summer, with Chelsea and United the frontrunners for his signature.
