Neymar ‘finally turns up’ with goal but his World Cup ends in heartbreak
Neymar has been told he has finally turned up the World Cup after scoring for Brazil against Croatia in the quarter-finals.
The Paris Saint-Germain star stunned everyone at the Education City Stadium on Friday afternoon when he opened the scoring after a tense 90 minutes was up. The match went to extra-time where the match saved all of its drama.
Just before the first period of extra-time was up, Neymar danced his way through the Croatia box before taking the ball past Dominik Livakovic and smashing it into the roof of the net. It was the Brazilian's 77th goal for his country – drawing him level with the great Pele.

And it saw fans praise the forward, with one saying: "Neymar FINALLY turns up when it really matters !!"

However, it was not enough as Croatia came back in the second half of extra-time when Bruno Petkovic netted an equaliser with minutes left. It was the European country's only shot on target – and even that took a wicked deflection to take it past Alisson.
It saw the match go to penalties where Livakovic saved Rodrygo's effort before Marquinhos hit the post to see the Brazilians go home early in another shock of the tournament. The Selecao had been the favourites prior to the tournament getting underway.
But it will be Croatia instead who progress to the semi-finals, who have already taken part in another giant-killing when they knocked Spain out on penalties the round before.
