Newcastle to offer ‘over £52m’ for star Jurgen Klopp loves in Federico Chiesa
Eddie Howe makes no apologies for Newcastle’s no-nonsense approach to winning
Newcastle are ready to make a real statement in the January transfer window as they reportedly prepare an offer for Juventus winger Federico Chiesa. Jurgen Klopp is said to be a keen admirer of the player and would love to have him at Liverpool but it is Newcastle who lead the race for his signature.
The Magpies enquired about Chiesa’s availability in the summer, however, a move never materialised. Now, they are set to go back in for him in the new year. But he won’t come cheap.
Juventus want a fee in the region of £52million (60m euros) for the 26-year-old, who only joined the Italian giants on a permanent deal last season after spending two campaigns on loan at the Allianz Arena from Fiorentina.
According to Tutto Juve, Newcastle are willing to match Juventus’ asking price as they look to strengthen their forward line to bolster their chances in the Champions League. The report goes on to claim that Arsenal and Chelsea are also closely monitoring the player.
Meanwhile, Klopp “hugely respects” Chiesa, according to reports in Italy. The Reds are understood to have expressed interest in acquiring his services in the summer with Klopp said to be willing to “offer him the chance of playing as an advanced winger”, which is what he wants.
Yet there have been no such links heading into January with all the talk being about Newcastle. Chiesa would prove to be a fine acquisition for Eddie Howe’s side.

The Magpies need to add more cutting edge in the final third which the Italian international possesses in abundance. Chiesa has 71 goals and 50 assists from 297 career appearances and can play right across the front three.
His contract expires in the summer of 2025 and with uncertainty over a new deal, Juventus may look to sell him in order to avoid losing him for free in eighteen months’ time.
