Newcastle could have eight transfers blocked as they look to flex their financial muscles in the market. The other Premier League clubs are not too keen on handing over their best assets – no matter the cash.
Newcastle are set to find themselves sitting on their own in the transfer window after their mega takeover.
Since Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund purchase of the Toon, the club have become the richest in the world.
Chairing the organisation is crown prince Mohammed bin Salman – whose value is worth more than all the other clubs in the division combined.
However, they might have all the cash but it will not be worth a penny if they cannot find a seller to supply them the players they are already eyeing.
The likes of Manchester United, Tottenham and Arsenal are all in difficult situations in the Premier League as they vie for the top spots.
But the entry of a big-spending competitor will only weaken their chances of fending for a Champions League position.
Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea can feel fairly confident over their own status but will be wary if Newcastle start splashing the cash.
According to the Telegraph, Newcastle’s Premier League rivals are set to adopt a policy of ‘anyone but them’ in the transfer window.
That could make life very difficult for Eddie Howe, who arrived as the new manager this week.
A raid on United had already been mooted with Jesse Lingard and Donny van de Beek linked but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks set to reject their offers.
However, in Lingard’s case that might just be prolonging the inevitable with his contract up at the end of the season.
United have other fringe players that intrigue the Magpies with Dean Henderson and Eric Bailly potential arrivals.
But the Old Trafford outfit are likely to deny them both the chance to move to Newcastle to preserve their status as top-four favourites despite their shoddy form.
Arsenal could also block moves for Alexandre Lacazette and Ainsley Maitland-Niles, despite both being linked with exits in the summer.
However, Mikel Arteta might prefer to offload them abroad where they cannot come back to haunt their old club while Everton are linked too.
Dele Alli and Harry Winks look set to be moved on and a transfer to Newcastle appeared perfect for both parties but Tottenham would not be interested in selling to what could be a potential rival.
