Newcastle fans taken aback as Hollywood A-lister Idris Elba spotted with owners
Baffled Newcastle United fans are wondering why acting sensation Idris Elba is at St James' Park for their clash against Southampton.
The Hollywood A-Lister was in the stands for what is very quickly becoming a truly historic evening for the Magpies. Eddie Howe’s side appear to have one foot in the final of the League Cup thanks to Sean Longstaff's quick-fire brace adding to their 1-0 aggregate advantage from the first leg. While Che Adams has put Nathan Jones' side back into the contest with a fine effort from 25-yards, the tie is still, very much, in Newcastle's hands.
While the Scottish international's goal may have injected some anxiety into the Magpies, St James' Park is still in a celebratory mood. And providing there is no remarkable comeback from the Saints, Elba will be in and amongst the celebrations on Tyne-side.

Yet, the good feeling has not stopped many supporters asking why the actor in the stands. "Was that Idris Elba at the Newcastle game," one baffled supporter posted alongside two laughing face emojis.
"Is that Idris Elba at St James park or am I going mad," another asked. "Why was I not informed Idris Elba was in Newcastle" shouted one person on social media who may well have a crush on the RocknRolla star.
"Why’s Idris Elba at Newcastle vs Southampton then," added one other confused fan before another supporter more brusquely wrote, "What on earth is Idris Elba doing here?"

"How’s Idris Elba got a ticket," said one Magpie fan, who evidently missed out on a ticket for this evening's match. Tickets for the semi-final sold out in breathtaking fashion.
Fortunately for the British actor, he managed to bag himself a seat in the director’s box. It is relatively unknown who, if anyone, Elba does support.
However, if Newcastle are able to hang on, he could very well become one of the Geordie community.
