Newcastle United want to bring in Southampton midfielder Mario Lemina while they continue to chase Arsenal defender William Saliba on loan.
Lemina has one year left on his contract at St Mary’s and spent last season with relegated Fulham before returning to Southampton.
Meanwhile, Newcastle are also keeping tabs on Saliba as they eye a potential loan move with his future in north London up in the air at present.

Saliba spent the second half of last campaign on loan at French outfit Nice, where he impressed in the heart of defence.
But Saliba’s short-term future is unclear with Arsenal in hot pursuit of Brighton centre back Ben White, who is valued at around £50million.
The 20-year-old is waiting on a decision from Mikel Arteta about whether he figures in the manager’s first team plans for next season with interest mounting in the centre back.
The Magpies are also eyeing a loan move for William Saliba, who returned to Arsenal from Nice
But Newcastle’s transfer business is on hold at present as owner Mike Ashley continues to discuss the possible sale of the club.
Newcastle were keen on Celtic’s Kristoffer Ajer but their delays have opened the door for Norwich City to make a bid for the Norway defender.
The Magpies are looking to kick on after a turbulent campaign last season, having escaped from the threat of relegation before finishing 12th under Steve Bruce following a strong end to the season.
