Newcastle United should sign Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland, according to defender Javier Manquillo. Newcastle are flush with cash following the £305million takeover fronted by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund and Manquillo has offered his opinion on which players the new owners should recruit.
Newcastle recently replaced owner Mike Ashley with a consortium featuring the PIF, PCP Capital Partners and RB Sports Media.
The PIF, who now own 80 per cent of Newcastle, have control of assets amounting to £320bn, making the Magpies one of the richest clubs in the world.
Transfer rumours have swirled ever since the takeover went through on October 7, although the hierarchy’s current priority is to find a new manager to replace Steve Bruce.
But with the January transfer window looming and cash burning a hole in their pockets, Newcastle are being linked with all sorts of players.
Manquillo, who has been at Newcastle for four years, is excited by the fresh investment – and he has big dreams for the future.

“If you ask me who I’d sign for Newcastle, I’d go for Mbappe and I’d go for Haaland,” he told The Telegraph.
“If it was a PlayStation team I’d also go for [Lionel] Messi and Cristiano [Ronaldo], but the youngsters who stand out the most right now are those two.”
It remains to be seen whether PSG or Borussia Dortmund would sell Mbappe or Haaland to Newcastle in the near future.
But in the meantime Newcastle are focusing on recruiting a replacement for Bruce, who took charge of his 1,000th game against Tottenham on Sunday.
According to The Times, their shortlist includes Belgium boss Roberto Martinez, Rangers manager Steven Gerrard and Villarreal’s Unai Emery.

Wayne Rooney is also in the picture and is interested in the role, due in part to the uncertainty of his current position at Derby County, reports The Chronicle.
Whoever does land the job, Manquillo is looking forward to the future on Tyneside.
“Undoubtedly everyone wants to be part of this new phase, which is exciting for all of us,” he said.
“I’ve been at Newcastle for a long time, I feel at home, and now that there is a new project we would all love to continue.
“I don’t know how long it will take but this operation is aimed at Newcastle being able to compete for the Premier League and we want to live it.
“A few weeks ago we were a normal club and now we are the richest club in the world. It sounds like science fiction but these changes happen sometimes. It’s good news for Newcastle because from now on the team will get better and better.”
