New footage shows Toni Kroos mocking Mason Mount a year on from feud

Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos appeared to mock Chelsea ace Mason Mount in new footage that has surfaced on Twitter.

The German midfielder played a starring role as Carlo Ancelotti’s side progressed into the Champions League semi-final at the west Londoners’ expense. But in an interesting development in Kroos’ apparent rivalry with Mount – which began last season after Thomas Tuchel ’s side 1-1 away draw to Real Madrid in the first leg of the semi-final – the German appeared to impersonate Mount at the Bernabeu.

As the former Derby County loanee appeared to be looking for something in the distance, Kroos proceeded to raise his hand to his brow in the same way Mount was doing. And this cheeky little incident could prove to be the latest exchange between the two classy midfielders.

Their subtle back and forths together began in the preceding days before Chelsea’s second-leg clash at Stamford Bridge last season. The fireworks began when Kroos, while not directly addressing Mount at the time, stated Los Blancos were not scared of the Blues.

“In my 15 years playing football, I never lost sleep,” Kroos bluntly responded when asked whether his side feared Chelsea’s attacking options.

“They defend well and have pace up front, those are their strengths.” After Mount slid home the clinching second goal to send Chelsea into the final, he made direct reference to Kroos’ comments about the Blues.

“I saw one of their players say before that he doesn't lose sleep over individuals,” Mount cheekily responded after their victorious second leg. “But as a team, they need to lose sleep over us as a team.

“We give so much, we defend for our lives.” Of course, Mount’s quotes did not escape the former Bayern Munich midfielder’s attention, who quickly responded on social media.

“Still sleeping ok. But well done yesterday. congrats. Good luck” the four-time Champions League winner said after the Blues’ victory. Considering the heart-breaking nature of Chelsea’s exit, Mount may very well have been the one struggling to sleep in Madrid.
