Neville urges Man Utd to flog Martial after agent admitted he wants out

Gary Neville has told Manchester United to adhere to Anthony Martial's wishes and sell him in January.

It follows the Frenchman's agent revelation that he wants to leave in the club in January due to a lack of first-team football.

While Ralf Rangnick has only been in charge for just over a week, his predecessor Ole Gunnar Solskjaer barely used the striker.

The arrivals of Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho have limited Martial to a bit-part role while he has rarely impressed when given the chance.

The 26-year-old has scored just once in the Premier League this season, while last year he managed just four throughout the entire campaign.

His representative Philippe Lamboley told Sky Sports: "Anthony wishes to leave the club in January.

"He just needs to play. He doesn't want to stay in January and I will speak to the club soon."

And United legend Neville believes that his old club should not stand in his way and move the ex-Monaco man on as soon as possible.

He said: “If they can get good money for him yes I would. I think now the time has come.

“Manchester United have always been wary of getting burned. Him leaving for £25m and going on and becoming a £100m player because he’s a special talent.

“But I just don’t think he’ll ever work at Old Trafford. They’ve got Rashford, Greenwood, Ronaldo, Cavani – other players as well.

“I just think now is the time for him to leave and go and play regular football, so I think it’s the right time.”

Martial, who has started just twice in the Premier League and appeared two times in the Champions League, still has three years left on his contract and has been at Old Trafford since 2015.

After arriving, the striker made a name for himself after his brace against Liverpool but his early promise has failed to fulfil.

Where Martial could end up remains to be seen after interest from Tottenham and Chelsea in the past, while Newcastle have been linked as well.
