Neville left red-faced as Kane clears up Tottenham transfer situation
Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville has been left red-faced after Harry Kane cleared up the circumstances regarding his failure to report for pre-season training at Tottenham.
The wantaway striker has missed every training session this week, with Spurs having reportedly expected him to return from his holiday on Monday.
Kane’s decision to stay away from Hotspur Way was perceived as being a tactic to force Tottenham chief Daniel Levy to sell him to Manchester City.
The England captain has made his desire to depart the Premier League side clear, with the 28-year-old desperate to finally win his first major trophy.

But that apparent tactic was blasted by many, with former Manchester United star Neville criticising his avoidance of training.
“If Harry Kane was meant to report to pre-season training with Tottenham on Monday, then he should've come back,” he told Sky Sports on Thursday.
“You can never advocate any player not turning up for training – it's as simple as that. You've got to turn up and you've got to do your job.
“I've worked with Harry and I can't think of a more professional footballer that I've ever seen. He does everything right, so he must be seriously annoyed.

“It still doesn't excuse it for me. He should still have come into training, and you respect your team-mates. You still have to go and stand with them and sit in the dressing-room.”
Neville has though been left looking red-faced, after Kane took to social media to insist that his planned return date had always been this Saturday.
The striker also took the opportunity to fire back at those who had criticised him for appearing to skip training.
“It's almost 10 years since I made my Spurs debut. For every one of those years, you – the fans – have shown me total support and love,” Kane wrote in a statement.
“That's why it hurts to read some of the comments that have been made this week, questioning my professionalism.
“While I won't go into the specifics of the situation, I want to clarify that I would never, and have never, refused to train. I will be returning to the club tomorrow (Saturday), as planned.
“I wouldn't do anything to jeopardise the relationship I have with the fans who have given me such unwavering support during my time with the club. This has always been the case as it is today.”
