Neil Warnock apologises to wife as he plans to lose ‘5 or 6lbs’ at Huddersfield
Legendary manager Neil Warnock was quickly forced into apologising to wife Sharon after praising the food at Huddersfield Town.
Warnock, comfortably the eldest gaffer in the EFL at 74, has agreed to step back into the dugout on a short-term basis until the end of the season, aiming to stave another Championship side away from the dreaded relegation zone.
At present, new club Huddersfield occupy 23rd in the standings, four points adrift of Warnock's former side Cardiff City in 21st, with the Yorkshire outfit set to welcome Birmingham City to the John Smith's Stadium on Saturday (February 18).

Speaking to reporters ahead of the crucial Championship clash, Warnock did recognise the age gap between himself and the rest of his managerial rivals, revealing he also plans to use the next few months to drop a jean size or two.
"I do keep my eye on my health as best I can," said the veteran boss in his pre-match press conference. "My objective is to try and probably lose five or six pounds in the next 15 games. So I'll be working hard after training on the training ground or in the gymnasium somewhere."

As well as planning an updated fitness regime, the former Middlesbrough and Sheffield United boss is readying to cut out the carbs – though he quickly corrected the record when appearing to insult his wife's cooking.
"You also get better food at football," continued Warnock as laughter erupted from journalists in attendance. "I hope Sharon's not listening. I didn't mean that in a nasty way. I just meant the chefs are very good at these football clubs."
Guiding The Terriers to Wembley as Second Division play-off winners in 1995, Warnock will be hoping to weave his miraculous wand over yet another struggling club. The survival expert kept Boro, the Bluebirds and Rotherham United afloat over his last three managerial stints.
