Neco Williams rushed to hospital after horror collision vs Brighton
Nottingham Forest defender Neco Williams was taken to hospital for checks following a horror collision during his side’s crucial Premier League victory over Brighton and Hove Albion on Wednesday evening. The former Liverpool ace received treatment on the pitch after inadvertently crashing into Forest team-mate Brennan Johnson in the second half before he was eventually carried off the field of play on a stretcher.
It was confirmed on BT Sport after Williams had been replaced by Cheikhou Kouyate that he was being treated for a possible concussion, while Forest boss Steve Cooper revealed after the full-time whistle at the City Ground that his fellow Welshman had been taken to hospital for additional checks.
“I had a look when he came off and I saw blood so fingers crossed it is not too bad,” said Cooper. “His health comes first, regardless of results.”
Forest went on to register a crucial 3-1 victory over Brighton in order to claim a welcome three points in their bid to secure Premier League survival at the end of the season. Things got off to a shaky start for the hosts when Johnson missed a penalty in the 11th minute before Facundo Buonanotte fired Brighton into the lead, although Pascal Gross’ own goal on the stroke of half-time ensured the two sides went in level at the break.
