Nagelsmann tore into his Bayern stars after fourth straight draw

‘I’ve raised things a thousand times and we STILL get them wrong!’: Julian Nagelsmann ‘tore into his struggling Bayern stars’ after a third straight draw against Frankfurt – with the coach facing ‘increasing pressure’ as Thomas Tuchel waits in the wings

  • Bayern boss Julian Nagelsmann is coming under rising pressure, reports claim
  • His side have drawn three games in a row and face a battle to win the Bundesliga
  • The coach ranted at his players in training, saying they were ‘too relaxed’

Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann reportedly held a furious training ground inquest after the team drew their third straight game against Frankfurt on Saturday – with the German facing increasing pressure at the club.

The German giants still top the Bundesliga table but have this season’s surprise package Union Berlin breathing down their necks just one point behind, while RB Leipzig, Dortmund and Freiburg are also closing in on them.

Nagelsmann’s side have lost one game all season but have drawn seven times – three of which have come in their last three games since the turn of the year.

The team’s concerning form has led to ‘increasing pressure’ on the head coach, according to Bild – with ‘consequences’ on the training ground, including giving the team a much tougher training regime, so much so that one of his sessions had to be cut back.

He is also said to have cancelled a scheduled day off on Monday in the wake of their disappointing draw against Frankfurt, with the report claiming he must ‘find solutions quickly’ in order to secure his position as head coach.

Although he ‘doesn’t have to worry about his future at the moment’, the report adds, former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel is available and lurking in the wings and the ex-Leipzig coach now has a challenge to ‘get his players out of their World Cup hole’.

Players are said to have felt Nagelsmann’s ‘tough’ stance in recent weeks after their ‘botched’ start to 2023, with the coach barking at the squad during a recent training session after deciding that the atmosphere was ‘too relaxed’.

‘I’ve raised things a thousand times and we STILL do them wrong!’ he is claimed to have told them, telling his struggling stars that their passes were lacking ‘sharpness’.

Forward Serge Gnabry also ‘got a swipe’ from his manager after controversially going to attend Paris Fashion Week during his day off between matches – something sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic called ‘amateurish’.

Nagelsmann is ‘playing a risky game’ by doing things ‘his own way’ regardless of what results the team picks up or tensions that might arise in the squad.

He also fell out with goalkeeping coach Toni Tapalovic, who was sacked by the club after it emerged that he had been leaking conversations among staff members back to his team – via close friend and goalkeeper Manuel Neuer.

The dismissal of Tapalovic – who had close ties with a number of players – has also led to ‘uncertainty and distrust’ among the squad.

Nagelsmann is facing an ‘uneasy’ situation, the report concludes, saying he must ‘maintain his connection to the team’ and ‘make tough decisions’ in order to get the team back on track.
