‘My wife once told me that. Sometimes it wakes her up in the night.’

That’s if Nagelsmann goes to bed at all. He often stays up late into the night after matches as it takes a long time to wind down from the stresses and strains of the 90 minutes.

The former Hoffenheim and RB Leipzig manager married his childhood sweetheart Verena, 35, back in 2018. They have two children together.

In the same magazine, Andrea Trinchieri, the coach of the Bayern basketball team, admitted he also has some strange nocturnal habits.

Bayern have not given their coach too many nightmares this season and enjoy a six-point lead at the top of the Bundesliga table

Bayern won at Hertha Berlin last weekend to remain on course for a 10th consecutive title

He said: ‘I have a notebook next to my bed – and sometimes I find notes after the game that I didn’t know I’d written down during the night.’

Nagelsmann will hope his Bayern side don’t give him too many sleepless night between now and the end of the season.

They have won their last two Bundesliga games 4-0 at Cologne and 4-1 at Hertha Berlin to preserve their six-point advantage over Borussia Dortmund at the top of the table.

They host Nagelsmann’s former club Leipzig this Saturday in their next match.

Bayern are already out of the German Cup but have a Champions League last-16 tie against Red Bull Salzburg to look forward to later this month.
