Mudryk warned about potential Chelsea nightmare under Mauricio Pochettino
Chelsea winger Mykhaylo Mudryk has been warned he faces a potential nightmare under Mauricio Pochettino. The Ukrainian star has failed to settle in at Stamford Bridge yet and is now set to play under a fourth coach since joining in January.
Pochettino has agreed to become the permanent successor to Graham Potter at Chelsea. Bruno Saltor had one game as a caretaker while Frank Lampard is seeing out the rest of the season as interim.
Potter brought Mudryk to Chelsea in January, with owner Todd Boehly beating Arsenal to his signature by committing to pay up to £88million to Shakhtar Donetsk. However, he is yet to score in his first 15 appearances and has registered just two assists.
He hasn’t been a regular under any of the coaches he has played under since making the move to England. And former Liverpool and Scotland midfielder Charlie Adam reckons it could be a familiar story once Pochettino arrives.

Mudryk signed a contract at Chelsea to keep him at the club until 2031. But Adam can see Pochettino not fancying the 22-year-old and sending him out on a long-term loan.
Speaking on BBC’s The Monday Night Club, Adam said: “It’s not easy when they’re on six or seven-year contracts. It’s not just what the owner wants, Pochettino is the man now. He has to make the decision.
“He might not fancy Mudryk. He might come in and say ‘Don’t want him’.
“You have paid x amount for him, he’s on a seven-year contract. How do we get rid of him? There’s no way. He might end up on loan for three years.

“It’s about having to evaluate everything, FFP, the balance of the squad, young players coming through, they will have a problem with players out on loan next season because you can only have a certain amount out.”
Eight of Mudryk’s 15 appearances so far have come as a substitute. He was left on the bench for the entirety of Saturday’s 2-2 draw at home to struggling Nottingham Forest.
Pochettino will have a plethora of wide attacking players to choose from when he takes over in west London. Raheem Sterling scored his first league goals since January 1 at the weekend while Hakim Ziyech has started to find some form after being brought back into the fold by Lampard.
Noni Madueke has also impressed of late. His £30m arrival from PSV Eindhoven in January was overshadowed by the Mudryk deal but the Ukraine star could end up falling by the wayside if he doesn’t catch the eye of Pochettino.
